Home victory at the Bugatti!

The fourth round of the championship took place at the beginning of September on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans. Living less than 10 minutes from the circuit, it was therefore my home race.

Of course with my background in F4, I already knew the circuit but I had never driven there during a race meeting.

The weekend began with the traditional free practice sessions on Thursday (exceptional test day) and Friday.

THURSDAY

On this first day, the tests were organized during a track day. I had to deal with a lot of traffic, literally slaloming between the racing GTs but also the road cars. It was a good experience to have despite the difference in pace between our cars. The rain also got involved. I was driving then. These conditions are always very difficult but also very interesting to understand the limits of my LMP3. This Thursday's warm-up went very well. We could then get to the heart of the matter the next day…

FRIDAY

The rain stopped, but the clouds remained relatively present for this new day. She was atypical for me. In fact, I knew that I would not ride to give Miguel, my teammate, more track time so that he could explore the circuit more peacefully. Nevertheless, I was present with the team. In the evening, I organized my very first partners event. After several weeks of preparation, I had the pleasure of being able to invite them to a race meeting. Presentation of the stands, the car but also my new project #MP24H . A great time spent alongside them.

SATURDAY

After this “little” break behind the wheel, I was in the car for the final test session. It was then necessary to prepare for the qualifications which took place later in the day. I completed a few laps before handing over the wheel to Miguel. I was very satisfied with the car, its settings and therefore rather confident for the rest of the weekend.

In the afternoon, the qualifying session was held. Miguel and Julian, my two teammates, did an excellent job, finishing first in each of their sessions. I knew that the car would be at its maximum at the end of the session: new tires, little fuel, very good track temperature. I always love this moment. I gave 100% and concluded the session with the best lap in 1.29.644, more than 7 and a half tenths ahead of my closest pursuer. Overall, we took pole position one second ahead of the competitors in car #13.

SUNDAY

Miguel was behind the wheel at 9:35 a.m. for the start of the 3-hour race. He got off to a great start and despite the pressure from a driver classified as silver by the FIA, he managed, during his stint, to stay in front. Excellent Miguel. Julian took his turn at the wheel. Superb work from Julian also with a very good race pace. After this very good start to the race, I had to maintain this virtual first position. In fact, I had to overtake a competitor who was going to stop a few laps after us. This was done quickly. I then had to be fast but remain careful enough in the traffic to avoid all the pitfalls. After 3 hours of racing, I crossed the line with more than a minute ahead of the sister car led by Alessandro BRACALENTE and Rob HODES. A very first double for the Virage team.

CONCLUSION

A fourth special victory for me, in front of my family, my friends but also my partners. An incredible joy to be on the same podium as the 24 hours of Le Mans, my ultimate goal.

A big congratulations to Virage for this superb weekend. I thank you for your work, but also for the perfect understanding between each of us. It's a joy to evolve in your atmosphere. Looking forward to seeing you again for the next races.

A big thank you also to the Endurance Network for your work alongside me. I have never felt so good in my car. You have a lot to do with it.

I also thank Team MAM for all the preparation implemented jointly for more than 3 years. Your tools and advice have been very useful to me in maximizing my performance despite limited riding time.

A HUGE thank you to all my partners who support me in this wonderful project .

I conclude by thanking my loved ones, friends, but also my family for your unfailing support since 2016, the date of my debut.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT !!
