Ultimate Cup Series LMP3 champion!

For the final round of the season, the action took place at Estoril in Portugal.

The objective of the weekend was to win the championship title in our category (LMP3)

Friday – Free Practice

Two free practice sessions were scheduled for this first day of competition. In the first, which took place during the day, my two teammates Julien and Miguel were getting their bearings again with the car and the circuit. For my part, I was waiting to get behind the wheel of the #88 in a second. At the end of the first session, my teammates set the best time. The second work session was ultimately canceled due to a driver going off the track, causing damage to the circuit rails. So I discovered the track on Saturday.

Saturday – Free practice and qualifying

For the last free practice session, it was up to me to start. I had 10 laps to discover the circuit, decipher the behavior of the car but also break in the brake discs. After following the break-in procedure, I had 4 quick laps left to really get to grips with the circuit. It went well. I had to have one qualifying run left which unfortunately could not take place due to a red flag at the end of the session. Ultimately, I was going to find myself in qualifying with very few laps in free practice, another challenge to take on!

Julian and Miguel were in charge of the first 2 qualifying phases. As usual, I took the wheel in Q3. With a time of 1.32.253, I took pole position and the best time in qualifying. Rather satisfied with my performance despite limited driving time.

Overall and with the best times of my teammates in their heats, we signed our 5th pole position of the season.

100% success in qualifying this year!

Sunday – Final race of the season

At 2 p.m., the start for the final race of the season. Under the sun of his native country, Miguel Cristovao took the start. Thanks to an excellent start to the race, he quickly widened the gap until the safety car intervened.

During this period under safety car, a small error and a decision from the race direction forced us to a 10-minute Stop/and/Go. We fall from first place with a clear lead to 8th. Handover to Julian. He then had to wait 10 minutes strapped into the car, that's a long time. After long minutes and some Rock/Paper/Scissors with Julien GERBI, our team manager, Julian leaves with the knife between his teeth. He was very fast during his stint.

Then I got in the car to finish the race. 7 laps behind the leader, it was difficult to envisage a good place in the general classification. Nevertheless, I gave everything. After a short hour of relay, the checkered flag came to salute the work of an entire season.

An immense joy to conclude the race and return to the park to be able to share this moment with the whole team.
